FROM STOCK TO CUSTOM

Many will accept the way things are. They will start as stock and end as stock. But some of us aren’t satisfied. We decide that “ordinary” isn’t enough. So we build. We think, we risk, we evolve. And in doing so we transcend the box we came in. We become something more.

CAFE RACER

A café racer  is a lightweight, lightly powered motorcycle optimized for speed and handling rather than comfort – and for quick rides over short distances. With bodywork and control layout recalling early 1960’s Gand Prix racing motorcycles, café racers are noted for their visual minimalism, featuring low-mounted handlebars, prominent seat cowling and elongated fuel tank – and frequently knee-grips indented in the fuel tank.

CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE

Classic motorcycle  is not necessarily collectible, it can also mean that it’s just old. There is no widely accepted definition for how old a motorcycle must be to qualify as vintage or classic, but some experts say it’s anything older than 1974, and others lump in Japanese bikes from the early 1980s. To be both classic and collectible is a function of a number of factors, including the condition and originality of the motorcycle, when and how many of the bikes were made, how long the company making it was in business and whether or not the bike was associated with someone famous.

CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE

A custom motorcycle is a motorcycle with stylistic and/or structural changes to the ‘standard’ mass-produced machine. Custom motorcycles might be unique, or built in limited quantities. While individual motorcyclists have altered the appearance of their machines since the very first days of motorcycling, the first individualized motorcycles specifically labeled ‘Custom’ appeared in the late 1950s, around the same time as the term was applied to custom cars.
